Spaghetti Bolognaise Sauce
Spaghetti Bolognaise Sauce
Serves: Serves 8
Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1kg premium beef mince
- 1½ cups tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons SPLENDA® Granulated Sweetener
- a few sprigs of fresh basil
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1½ cups red wine
Method
Roughly chop onion and crush garlic
Heat oil in a frypan and sauté onion and garlic until tender
Add beef mince and cook over a high heat until browned. Pour off any excess oil
Add remaining ingredients. Simmer uncovered for ½ hour adding more red wine if necessary.
Serve with hot pasta and fresh Parmesan cheese
Tips
- Pork, veal or chicken mince can be substituted. Premium mince is the lowest in fat
- If fresh basil is unavailable, add ½ teaspoon dried basil
- A good quality red wine will contribute to the flavour of the finished dish
- Bolognaise sauce is best made a day in advance to allow the flavours to develop
- Leftover sauce will store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or frozen for up to 3 months.
